I found my 2 year old daughter drawing roses all the time, and she always says “Yoses are my favouyite”. 
The funny thing is, they were never my personal favourites amongst all the flowers but since I saw her drawing them; I had this urge of painting roses. When I started with this painting and the composition; I was reminded of my childhood and how passionately my Ma used to nurture, grow and care for more than 50 different types of roses in our garden. 
She used to ask everyone to be gentle with the roses, treat them like a new born she said to me once. I felt her presence when I was painting this piece.
My Ma and my daughter never had an opportunity to meet each other. But that doesn’t mean they don’t know each other. I believe they have deep celestial connections through their genes, through their fondness for roses.
This beautiful painting and my first ever rose painting is dedicated to all the mothers who pour their heart and soul into nurturing us, who strive for making this world a better a more hopeful place for us every day one day at a time.
